Senior Electrical Engineer - Solar Designs
Job Description
This well-known energy consultancy based in central Auckland is seeking to add a qualified Senior Electrical Engineer/Senior Solar Design Engineer to their close-knit team.
About the role:
This is a full-time permanent stable role reporting to the Director. They specialise in solar PV, battery energy storage, technical feasibility and engineering design.
You will play a pivotal role within the team and work across a range of renewable energy projects, from feasibility and site assessment through to detailed design and project delivery.
Some key responsibilities
Designing grid-connected, off-grid, hybrid and utility-scale solar PV and BESS systems
Preparing electrical designs, single-line diagrams, calculations, layouts and technical specifications
Conducting feasibility studies, site assessments and energy analysis
Developing 2D CAD drawings and 3D models using tools such as PVsyst, HOMER, SketchUp and Revit
Communicating with clients, contractors, network operators and other stakeholders
Managing project deliverables, timelines and technical documentation.
Reviewing designs and ensuring compliance with relevant NZ/Australian standards
Providing technical advice and contributing to continuous improvement and new renewable energy technologies
About You
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or a related field – a must
Experience in electrical engineering and/or solar PV design
Good knowledge of LV electrical systems and relevant NZ standards
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently and as part of a team
Experience with PVsyst, HOMER, SketchUp, Revit or similar software is desirable
EWRB registration, CPEng and/or CEC Designer accreditation would be an advantage
