• An established Australian engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its growing water infrastructure team.
• This is an opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys engineering design, solving technical challenges and being involved in projects from the early concept stages right through to commissioning.
• The business works across a range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout Australia, partnering with major contractors and clients on complex engineering solutions.
• You'll be joining a team of experienced engineers where you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your work, contribute to technical decisions and support the development of other engineers.

The Role

Working across a variety of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, you'll be responsible for the mechanical design and delivery of engineering solutions.

Your responsibilities will include

• Leading mechanical design across water and wastewater treatment projects
• Designing pumping systems, pipework and associated mechanical equipment
• Preparing engineering calculations, specifications and technical documentation
• Working on projects from concept design through to commissioning and handover
• Conducting technical reviews and identifying opportunities to improve designs
• Collaborating with civil, process, structural and electrical engineers
• Providing technical support during installation, testing and commissioning
• Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the wider engineering team

What We're Looking For

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Approximately 8 to 12+ years of relevant engineering experience
• Strong experience in the Australian water and wastewater industry
• Proven background in mechanical design within an engineering consultancy
• Experience with pumping systems, hydraulic design, piping and mechanical equipment selection
• Understanding of Australian engineering standards and water industry requirements
• Experience delivering projects from design through to commissioning
• Chartered or RPEQ registration would be highly regarded
• We're particularly interested in speaking with engineers who have strong technical design capability and enjoy being hands-on rather than purely managing projects.
