Senior Project Manager

The Company

Our client is an established and growing civil infrastructure contractor who are seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee and deliver 3 Waters projects across Auckland.

The Role

With a strong forward workload and long-term programme of works, this role offers the opportunity to lead technically complex water infrastructure projects from planning through to completion.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical capability, commercial acumen, and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, councils, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources, materials, and labour

End-to-end management of 3 Waters projects across Auckland

Planning, programming, and resourcing works to meet contractual milestones

Managing project budgets, cash flow, forecasting, and cost-to-complete

Leading site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve delivery outcomes

Managing contractual obligations, variations, and risk mitigation

Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements

Coordinating with designers, councils, and utility providers

Providing accurate reporting on programme, cost, risk, and performance

Driving a strong safety culture and leading by example on site

Skills And Experience

Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar

Minimum 5 years' experience in civil infrastructure delivery

Strong technical knowledge of water, wastewater, and stormwater construction

Experience working with local councils and water authorities in New Zealand

Solid understanding of NZ construction contracts and delivery models

Strong commercial and financial management capability

Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary site teams and subcontractors

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
