Senior/Head Veterinary Nurse Full Time

• We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Senior/Head Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly, hardworking team at our privately owned practice in Prebbleton.
• Position:Permanent Full-Time Head Veterinary Nurse
• Start Date: October/ November 2026
• Location: Prebbleton
• Hours: 40hrs per week, some ability to tailor to individual requirements.

• The Role:
• As a Veterinary Nurse, you play a key role in assisting our veterinarians with medical and surgical procedures, caring for hospitalised patients, and ensuring a high standard of care for every animal.
• Your daily duties will also include Senior/Head Nurse duties, customer service, maintaining patient records, and supporting our team in any way needed to ensure smooth practice operations.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in a variety of veterinary procedures (medical, surgical, and diagnostic)
• Monitor and carefor hospitalised patients
• Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Maintain accurate patient records
• Provide excellent client communication and support
• Mentor and educate junior nursing staff
• Assist with general practice tasks and daily operations
• Audit and maintain the Small Animal controlled drug book
• Send monthly update/communications emails to staff
• Assist with queries from Veterinarians / practice management.
• Qualifications & Experience:
• A recognised qualification in veterinary nursing (essential)
• Previous experience in a Senior/ Head Nurse veterinary nursing role (preferred)
• A positive, can-do attitude and a passion for animal care
• Excellent communication skills with both clients and team members
• Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a dynamic team
• A good sense of humour and a love for working in a supportive environment
