About the role
- Auckland Accommodation is looking for an experienced and reliable maintenance person to join our team.
- This is a varied, hands-on role involving property maintenance, room and bathroom upgrades, painting, repairs and groundskeeping across three accommodation properties in Morningside.
- Approximately 70% of your time will be based at one property, with the remaining 30% spent assisting at the other two sites.
- We're looking for a practical, team-oriented person who takes pride in their work, delivers a high standard of finish and is just as willing to help with the small jobs as the larger projects.
About us
Auckland Accommodation is an established provider of affordable rental accommodation in Morningside. We manage a portfolio of properties, providing accommodation for students, working professionals and people new to Auckland.
We're a small, hands-on team focused on maintaining and improving our properties, with an emphasis on quality workmanship, reliability and well-presented accommodation.
Key responsibilities
- Plastering, surface preparation and painting to a high standard
- General carpentry, including installing doors, skirting and fittings
- Installing click plank flooring, bathroom vanities, mirrors and shower liners
- Basic plumbing-related maintenance and working alongside licensed trades where required
- General property repairs and preventative maintenance
- Lawn mowing, hedge trimming and garden maintenance
- Furniture assembly, installation and relocation
- Collecting materials, supplies and stock
- Working alongside property managers to complete maintenance tasks efficiently
- Maintaining safe, clean and tidy work areas and following health and safety procedures
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in property maintenance, renovations or a similar trade
- Competent painting, plastering and basic carpentry skills
- Practical knowledge of basic plumbing and general repairs
- Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship
- Ability to work independently, manage time and solve problems
- Reliable, hardworking and physically capable
- A team player with a willingness to help wherever needed
- Health and safety conscious, with a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks
- Confidence using hand and power tools
- Full NZ driver's licence
