South Indian Chef

About the role

A South Indian Restaurant in Auckland is looking for an experienced South Indian Chef to join our team. We are looking for passionate and experienced chefs who have strong knowledge of authentic South Indian cuisine and can consistently prepare high-quality dishes.

Key responsibilities

Prepare authentic South Indian cuisine including Dosa, Idli, Vada, Sambar, Curries, Biryani, Tiffin and traditional South Indian dishes

Prepare ingredients, marinades, sauces, batters and other components required for daily food production

Follow established recipes and cooking procedures while applying cooking techniques and culinary judgement

Plan menus and monitor quality, taste, consistency and presentation of food throughout preparation and service

Estimate food quantities required for daily operations and assist with food cost control

Order and check food supplies and ensure adequate ingredients are available for daily production

Demonstrate appropriate cooking techniques and work with other kitchen staff for food preparation and cooking procedures

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety and kitchen hygiene in accordance with New Zealand food safety requirements

Train and develop kitchen staff where required

Maintain an organised, clean and efficient commercial kitchen

About you

At least 3+ years of experience preparing authentic South Indian cuisine

Strong knowledge of Dosa, Idli, Vada, Sambar, Curries, Biryani, Tiffin and traditional South Indian dishes

Ability to work efficiently in a busy commercial kitchen

Team player with a positive attitude
