• An exciting opportunity is available at The Marlborough Estate as we introduce our new boutique wellness offering.
• We are seeking an experienced and professionally trained Spa Therapist with strong massage skills to join our team in a permanent position.
• This is an all-rounder role combining professional relaxation massage, body rituals and spa treatments with spa reception and assistance for guests using our sauna, cold plunge, gym and surrounding wellness facilities.
• POSITION DETAILS
• Position:           Spa Therapist – Wellness & Massage

• Location:          Rapaura, Marlborough, New Zealand
• Employment:    Permanent, full-time
• Available Positions:  We will require 2 employees
• Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 40 paid hours per week
• Annual Salary: $60k to $65k depending on experience.

Start:                November 2026 or by agreement

Roster:             Rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays. Additional hours may be offered and worked by mutual agreement, depending on operational requirements.

THE ROLE

As our Spa Therapist, you will provide professional relaxation massage, while creating a calm, welcoming and highly attentive wellness experience for every guest.

Your responsibilities will include

•         Providing professional relaxation massage

•         Welcoming guests and discussing their treatment preferences and any relevant health, mobility or accessibility needs.

•         Managing and checking the cleanliness and presentation of the sauna, cold plunge, gym and surrounding wellness areas

•         Explaining available treatments and helping guests select an appropriate wellness experience

•         Maintaining accurate and confidential guest treatment information

•         Preparing treatment rooms before each appointment

•         Resetting treatment rooms promptly and thoroughly between guests

•         Maintaining exceptional hygiene, cleanliness and presentation standards

•         Ensuring equipment and products are used safely and correctly

•         Monitoring treatment products, linen and other spa supplies

•         Providing knowledgeable information about treatments and spa products

•         Supporting appropriate spa-product recommendations and retail sales

•         Covering spa reception between treatment appointments

•         Assisting with bookings, guest enquiries and welcoming arriving guests

•         Welcoming and assisting guests using the sauna, cold plunge and gym

•         Explaining wellness-facility procedures and referring any health or safety concerns appropriately

•         Replenishing towels, water and other guest supplies

•         Following all spa health, safety, hygiene and operational procedures

•         Working closely with Guest Services and the wider hotel team to provide a seamless guest experience

•         Housekeeping duties to maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the Wellness area at all times.

•         Undertaking other reasonable duties and ad hoc tasks as directed by the Senior Spa Therapist, House/Operations Manager or management, provided they are within the Employee’s skills, training and capabilities and reasonably related to the operation, guest service, cleanliness and presentation of the spa, wellness facilities and wider hotel.

•         Must have a driver's license and access to a vehicle

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have either

•         A relevant diploma-level qualification in Massage Therapy or Spa Therapy, or a comparable overseas qualification or relevant experience, which includes professional massage training; or

•         At least three years of relevant professional massage-therapy experience.

Applicants must also demonstrate

• Professional training and competency in relaxation massage
• Experience providing massage, body or spa treatments in a professional environment
• Knowledge of guest preferences and treatment safety
• Excellent hygiene and treatment-room preparation standards
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence working independently and managing a treatment schedule
• A professional, well-presented and guest-focused approach
• Excellent attention to detail
• Reliability and strong organizational skills
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
• HIGHLY REGARDED

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous

• A luxury hotel, resort or high-end spa
• International luxury hospitality
• Body treatments, wraps and spa rituals
• Wellness experiences and facilities
• Spa reception and appointment management
• Spa-product knowledge and retail sales
• Spa-booking or hotel property-management systems

• You will be comfortable working independently while also collaborating with Guest Services and the wider hotel team.
• WORK ELIGIBILITY
