About the role
Petone Engineering is a well-established structural steel company based in Seaview, Lower Hutt. We deliver a wide range of commercial and infrastructure projects throughout the wider wellington region and are seeking experienced highly skilled Structural Steel Fabricators to join our growing busy team.
Key responsibilities
Fabricate and assemble structural steel components from workshop drawings
Read and interpret fabrication and engineering drawings
Mark out, fit up and assemble steel members and assemblies
Carry out flux core welding to required standards
Operate fabrication equipment and machinery safely and efficiently
Complete work to quality and production requirements
Work closely with supervisors, leading hands and other team members
Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment
Follow company quality assurance and health and safety procedures
About you
Heavy Structural Steel Experience a must
Minimum 2 years' relevant structural steel fabrication experience and/or a relevant trade qualification
Proven ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings
Experience fabricating structural steel assemblies
Competent welding skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
Reliable, self-motivated, physically fit and capable of safely carrying out the manual handling requirements of a structural steel fabrication workshop
* Legal right to work in New Zealand or eligible to obtain a suitable work visa
