Job Description
About the Role
As an Aircraft Structural & Systems Integration Engineer, you will support the design, development, and integration of airframe structures and system installations. Working across the full engineering lifecycle, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that technical designs meet performance, weight, manufacturability, and airworthiness requirements.
Key Responsibilities
### 1. Design Integration & Layout Development
Develop and review structural and systems installation layouts, including 3D models and 2D drawings.
Support the definition of interfaces, routing, and installation concepts across the airframe.
Contribute to integration solutions that ensure compatibility, maintainability, and operational performance.
Participate in engineering trade-off studies evaluated against weight, cost, and manufacturability parameters.
### 2. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including stress, systems, interiors, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and mass properties.
Support coordination with suppliers and partners to ensure alignment across technical specifications.
Interface regularly with manufacturing and operations teams to align engineering deliverables with shop floor requirements.
### 3. Design Development & Problem Solving
Review detailed engineering designs, including sheet metal, machined parts, systems installations, and assemblies.
Provide technical solutions to resolve complex design, integration, or manufacturing challenges.
Support shop floor and in-service issue resolution as required.
Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles throughout design evolution.
### 4. Change & Configuration Management
Manage engineering changes through the full configuration control lifecycle.
Provide input toward impact assessments involving technical scope, cost, schedule, and program risk.
Ensure engineering design data integrity within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platforms (ENOVIA / Teamcenter).
### 5. Weight & Performance Optimization
Support weight management initiatives and actively identify weight-saving opportunities across assemblies.
Contribute to performance improvement and optimization activities across airframe systems.
### 6. Program Execution & Reporting
Provide regular technical status updates to project and functional leadership.
Support formal design reviews and key program milestones with internal and external stakeholders.
Participate in proactive risk identification and mitigation activities.
