Job Description

Fun close-knit and supportive team

Permanent based in Wellington at National Office

Help shape how AI capability is built across Corrections by supporting staff to confidently and safely use tools like Copilot. You'll turn ideas into practical learning solutions and contribute across the full journey, from concept through to delivery.

Mo te tunga | About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Trainer to join us within our Infrastructure and Digital Assets group to support Corrections' strategic goals through design and delivery of learning solutions to people who use our IT systems and emerging AI tools.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about producing engaging and effective educational resources in an IT environment. You'll enjoy both businesses as usual and project environments and you'll be able to contribute throughout the learning solution lifecycle including needs analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation of training and resources, using AI to work smarter and measure impact.

A key part of this role is AI enablement: building staff capability and confidence in using AI and digital tools alongside traditional systems training. You'll deliver AI literacy sessions, prompt-writing guidance, responsible-use and safe-use training, quick guides and FAQs, and help grow communities of practice. You'll support the safe, ethical and secure adoption of AI at Corrections, in line with organisational guidance.

You'll work closely with our AI and digital teams, subject matter experts and project teams to roll out AI capability across the business, and become a trusted go-to person and AI champion for staff.

Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience

You'll have a natural ability to connect with any audience including front-line staff, subject matter experts, project teams, managers, and peers. You'll be comfortable working with groups face to face, assisting remotely and working independently to develop resources.

To be successful in the role you will have

A very strong customer service ethic and an ability to create people-centric systems and AI education

Experience of applying adult learning and educational techniques

Willingness to contribute to projects and influence others

Curiosity about AI and emerging technology, and a willingness to explore, test and learn new tools quickly

The ability to explain AI concepts, benefits and risks in plain language to non-technical audiences

Experience, or a strong interest, in using generative AI to design, develop or personalise learning content

An understanding of responsible and ethical AI use, including privacy, security and data classification

The ability to coach and support change, helping people move from AI-hesitant to AI-confident

* A current Driver's License (Class 1) and be able to be away from home overnight on occasion as some travel around New Zealand is required.
