Job Description

Why This Role Exists

We’re looking for a hands-on, commercially minded Tax Manager to build and strengthen the group’s internal tax capability as our international business continues to grow.

Working directly with the Group CFO, you’ll take ownership of our tax compliance, risk management and strategy across multiple entities and jurisdictions. Your immediate priority will be indirect tax, including VAT, GST and sales tax, while also improving oversight of corporation tax, employment tax and cross-border obligations.

Beyond compliance, you’ll help shape our international corporate structure, identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency and support M&A activity. This is an opportunity to establish a clear, documented view of the group’s tax position and influence how tax is managed across the business.

What You’ll Own

  • Tax compliance and risk: Oversee international tax obligations, prioritising VAT, GST and sales tax while managing corporation tax, payroll tax and cross-border employment considerations.
  • Tax review and exposure management: Assess the existing tax position across jurisdictions, identify compliance gaps and potential liabilities, and establish clear processes for monitoring and mitigating risk.
  • International tax strategy: Partner with the Group CFO to evaluate tax-efficient structures and business decisions across jurisdictions, including Ireland, the UK, Malta, Romania and the US.
  • M&A and corporate structuring: Support tax due diligence, assess acquisition-related liabilities and opportunities, and contribute to post-acquisition structuring.
  • External advisor management: Oversee external tax advisors and service providers, critically evaluate their recommendations and reduce unnecessary reliance on outsourced expertise.
  • Research and problem-solving: Investigate unfamiliar tax rules, assess legislative changes and develop evidence-based recommendations for the business.
  • Process improvement: Build consistent, well-documented tax processes and improve the visibility and accuracy of tax information across entities.
  • Stakeholder partnership: Work with Finance, Technology, Data and business leaders to ensure tax implications are considered in commercial and operational decisions.
  • What Success Looks Like

  • First 30 days
  • Build an understanding of the group’s businesses, entities, revenue flows and existing tax arrangements.
  • Establish relationships with the Group CFO, Finance team and external tax advisors.
  • Identify the most immediate tax compliance priorities and areas requiring further investigation.
  • First 90 days
  • Complete an initial review of the group’s tax position across key jurisdictions.
  • Identify and prioritise known exposures, compliance gaps and indirect tax risks.
  • Recommend practical improvements to filing reviews, reporting, documentation and advisor oversight.
  • Within 12 months
  • Establish a clear, documented and defensible view of the group’s tax position across its entities and jurisdictions.
  • Ensure effective tax compliance and review processes are in place, with material risks identified and appropriately addressed.
  • Introduce a proactive approach to monitoring tax legislation and assessing its impact.
  • Demonstrate measurable improvements in risk management, advisor oversight and cost efficiency.
  • Contribute to the group’s longer-term tax strategy, international structuring and M&A opportunities.
  • What We’re Looking For

Experience and qualifications

Approximately 7 years of relevant tax experience, with progression towards Tax Manager-level responsibility.

A recognised professional tax qualification, such as CTA, AITI CTA or an equivalent. ACCA, ACA/CAI or ADIT may also be relevant when supported by appropriate tax expertise.

Broad experience across indirect tax, particularly VAT/GST and sales tax, alongside corporation tax and employer/payroll tax.

Experience managing tax obligations across multiple entities and international jurisdictions.

A track record of reviewing tax positions, identifying potential exposures and developing practical solutions.

Experience managing external tax advisors and evaluating their recommendations.

Technical and commercial skills

Strong technical knowledge of indirect tax and the ability to investigate complex or unfamiliar tax issues.

An understanding of international taxation, corporate structuring and cross-border transactions.

Strong analytical and research skills, with the confidence to develop an independent view before engaging external specialists.

The ability to interpret financial information and understand how commercial activities and revenue flows affect tax obligations.

Familiarity with accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics and indirect tax platforms such as Sovos, or equivalent tools.

Confidence using modern research and AI tools to support analysis and investigate jurisdiction-specific requirements.

Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tax matters in practical business terms.

Who Thrives Here

You’ll thrive in this role if you are

  • Self-directed: You take ownership, identify what needs investigating and move problems forward without waiting for detailed instructions.
  • Curious: You ask questions, explore unfamiliar areas and look beyond the immediate issue to understand the wider implications.
  • Commercially minded: You balance compliance and risk management with the practical needs and growth ambitions of the business.
  • Comfortable challenging assumptions: You test external advice, question recommendations and support your conclusions with evidence.
  • Pragmatic: You know when to investigate an issue yourself and when specialist external advice is warranted.
  • Collaborative: You build strong relationships across Finance and the wider business, ensuring tax considerations are factored into decisions early.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity: You can work across multiple entities and jurisdictions, prioritise competing demands and establish structure where processes need improvement.
  • Why People Stay and Love Working Here

At Yomali, we value ownership, autonomy and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution.

You’ll work in an international, decentralised group where teams have the freedom to make decisions, solve problems and take responsibility for outcomes. Rather than operating within a rigid, established tax function, you’ll have the opportunity to shape how the group approaches tax management as the business grows.

You’ll also work closely with senior leadership, gaining visibility into decisions that span multiple businesses, international expansion and acquisitions.

What’s In It For You

  • Build something meaningful: Develop the group’s internal tax capability and establish processes that support long-term growth.
  • Work directly with the CFO: Influence decisions and provide recommendations that have a tangible impact on the business.
  • Gain strategic exposure: Combine hands-on tax management with international structuring, commercial decision-making and M&A.
  • Own your approach: Have the autonomy to investigate problems, challenge assumptions and implement improvements.
  • Make a measurable difference: Reduce tax risk, improve efficiency and identify opportunities to deliver value.
  • Competitive compensation: Receive a salary aligned with your location and experience, plus an annual performance-based bonus of 10–15%.
  • Interview Process

  • The interview process will assess your technical tax knowledge, commercial judgement, problem-solving approach and ability to take ownership.
  • Initial screening: Discuss your experience, motivations, qualifications and alignment with the role.
  • Technical and competency interview: Explore your experience across indirect tax, international compliance, risk management and working with external advisors.
  • Practical problem-solving discussion: Assess how you investigate unfamiliar tax issues, evaluate potential exposures and develop recommendations.
  • * Group CFO interview: Discuss your approach to tax strategy, international structuring, stakeholder management and building the internal tax function.
  • About the Company

Joining Yomali means working across an international group of businesses where you can contribute directly to operational improvements, strategic decisions and long-term value creation.
