Team Leader

We are currently seeking an experienced Team Leader for our busy horticulture company. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing staff, ensuring they provide exceptional service. You will lead by example, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to team members while fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Report to the company’s Director any incidents or information relating to the running of the business including but not limited to staff complaints, staff misconduct and timely health and safety updates.

• Creating and presenting reports during staff meetings and when asked by the Supervisor/Senior Supervisors of the company.

• Supervising employee training as needed and providing feedback.

• Review staff performance and make notes about staff

• Talk to staff and if necessary provide Director of the company with details regarding any written warnings needing to be made

• Convey the employee’s opinions or feelings (satisfaction or dissatisfaction with work) to Director of the company and provide recommendations if necessary.

• Start and end each shift with a briefing and debriefing, providing the people on your team with important information regarding the tasks needing to be done and the expected work quality.

• Discuss any issues noted from the previous day’s work and how those issues will be resolved today.

• Ensure that staff are aware of any hazards identified in the orchard

• Distribute any equipment as required

• Ensure that all paperwork is accurately and honestly completed.

• After each shift, walk through the orchard ensuring that work has been completed to a high standard.

• If any minor fixings need to be made, ensure that it is made or that a note is made and that employees fix the issues on their next working day.

• Talk to any orchard grower or owner regarding any changes in work that is needed.

• Ensure that employees are given breaks as per the current employment law.

• Ensure that each employee finishes their break in due course.

• If any incidents or accidents should occur during work hours, ensure that this is accurately noted and that an incident report is sent to the Supervisor/Senior Supervisors of the company for filing.

• Ensure that if there is conflict between two parties, then this resolved in a reasonable way.

• From time to time, you will be required to drive the company vehicle and/or use the company vehicle to pick staff members. If this occurs, then it is absolutely necessary that you record the name of every person being picked up and the time that the person is picked.

• You must also note down any funds that have been provided to you by employees for the driving services and provide both a list of employees, the funds and your records to the Director of the company on a daily basis.

• Ensuring compliance with prescribed occupational health and safety regulations.

• $29.80 per hour

Requirements

• Must have at least two years of relevant work experience or a qualification at level 4 or above.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-pressure environment.
• Pay: $29.80 per hour
• Expected hours: 30.0 per week
• Work Location: In person
