Traffic Control / Flag Person

Our Distribution group is currently looking to add a Traffic Control / Flag Person to our team, based in Calgary, AB.Reporting to the Supervisor, Traffic Control, we are seeking someone with previous traffic control experience. This position will be responsible for flagging two-way traffic, installing construction signage, barricades, barrels, delineators, and assisting with preparation for on-road construction activity while maintaining a safe working environment.Please note: this position will work Monday – Friday, 8-10 hours / day with occasional weekends and out of town work.Duties and Responsibilities Control and direct traffic and pedestrians at construction sites or other locations to ensure the safe and efficient flow of vehicles Set up traffic control signs, cones, and barriers to redirect traffic away from work areasStop traffic whenever required by the progress of work or keep traffic moving at reduced speeds to avoid tie-ups and delaysCommunicate with drivers and pedestrians to provide instructions and ensure compliance with traffic regulationsCoordinate with other traffic control personnel to ensure a smooth flow of trafficMaintain a safe work environment with protocols and proper protective equipmentAlways maintain safety awareness and work in compliance with applicable health and safety regulations and policiesRequirementsPrior flagging / traffic control experienceClass 5 driver’s license with clean abstractPhysically fit, willing / able to work outdoors for long hoursComfortable working in and around traffic and pedestriansCSTS trainingPreferred Skills / QualificationsTraffic Control Persons for Construction / Alberta Temporary Traffic Control trainingBenefitsThis position offers an hourly rate of $20 – $24, depending on experience and qualifications.We offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including a 5% RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.  About our BusinessValard Construction is Canada’s premier utility contractor providing comprehensive EPC+ (engineering, procurement, construction) and maintenance services to utilities, independent power producers, mining, oil and gas industries and rural electric associations.
