Training Coordinator – Auckland Meat Processors
Job Description
*Training Coordinator – Auckland Meat Processors
Mount Wellington, Auckland*
Auckland Meat Processors (AMP) is looking for a Training Coordinator who understands meat processing and can help our people develop safe, practical skills.
This is a hands-on role with regular time on the processing floor. You’ll support new starters, coach existing employees and work alongside Managers and Supervisors, HR, Health & Safety and Quality to ensure training reflects how the job needs to be done.
About the role
You’ll coordinate training from a new employee’s first site walkthrough through to practical skills development and competency assessment. A key part of the role is developing employees’ practical health and safety skills, including hazard identification, correct PPE use and safe work practices, and checking that they apply these consistently on the processing floor.
Your responsibilities will include
Coordinating inductions for new and returning employees, including site tours, safety requirements, emergency procedures and introductions to key staff.
Identifying training needs and developing practical training plans with departmental supervisors.
Coordinating training in knife use, sharpening, safe work practices and processing tasks.
Coaching employees on the floor, checking progress and arranging further training where needed.
Supporting supervisors to assess competency and maintain accurate training and assessment records.
Working with Health & Safety and Quality to keep training aligned with current procedures, food safety requirements and Safety expectations.
Maintaining registers and checking the identification, condition and use of knives, steels, protective gloves and other personal equipment.
Helping improve training materials and the consistency of training across departments.
You will help develop the training side of our new system, bringing together training spreadsheets currently maintained by different managers into one central platform. Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel, are essential. You will need to organise and check existing records, identify gaps and help establish a consistent way to record training, track competency and report progress.
About you
You’ll bring practical meat-processing experience and the patience to explain a task, demonstrate it and check that the learner understands. You’ll be comfortable working with people from different backgrounds and adapting your approach to different levels of experience, language and literacy.
We’re looking for:
Experience coaching, training or supervising employees in a production environment.
Experience working in a meatworks, with a sound understanding of production processes, day-to-day operations and safe work practices.
Clear communication skills and the ability to give constructive feedback.
A practical understanding of workplace safety, food hygiene and quality requirements.
Good organisation, accurate record-keeping and confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
The ability to work closely with supervisors while keeping employee training progressing.
An adult education, workplace training or assessor qualification would be an advantage.
What We Offer
Competitive salary and benefits.
Opportunities for training and career progression.
A supportive, safety-focused culture.
Modern facilities, free parking, and staff shop access.
The chance to make a real difference in keeping people safe.
