Transport and distribution clerks and assistants

Job Overview

We are seeking detail-oriented and organised Transport and Distribution Clerks and Assistants to support our logistics operations. This role involves managing shipping and receiving activities, maintaining accurate data entry, and ensuring smooth coordination within our supply chain. The successful candidate will play a vital part in the efficient movement of goods, utilising various logistics management systems and demonstrating excellent communication skills. Duties

Oversee and coordinate shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely delivery of goods

Utilise transportation management systems (TMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software such as AS400 and SyteLine for data entry and tracking

Maintain accurate records of inventory movements, shipments, and deliveries

Assist with analysing supply chain data to optimise distribution routes and schedules

Communicate effectively with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams via phone etiquette and professional correspondence

Prepare shipping documentation, labels, and other relevant paperwork

Support the organisation of logistics activities within third-party logistics (3PL) providers when necessary

Monitor stock levels and coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure efficient stock management

Perform routine administrative tasks related to logistics operations, including filing reports and updating databases

Requirements

Proven experience with transportation management systems (TMS), AS400, SyteLine or similar ERP platforms

Strong understanding of supply chain processes, shipping & receiving procedures, and logistics principles

Excellent analysis skills to interpret data for process improvements

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, including phone etiquette

Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy; typing skills are essential

Knowledge of 3PL operations is advantageous

Organised with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment

Experience working with logistics or distribution teams is preferred but not essential

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Pay: £35,500.00-£42,500.00 per year
