Truck Driver

JHP Transport Limited is a logistics provider specialising in reliable and efficient transport solutions. We are seeking reliable Truck Drivers to join our team in the Canterbury region and support our commitment to excellent service and timely deliveries.

The business operates a freight run between Southland and Canterbury. As part of the role, the Driver will swap trucks in the Otago region, where they will meet another team member and exchange trucks as directed by the business.

The candidate must therefore be flexible and willing to travel through Southland, Otago and Canterbury as required to complete the freight run and associated truck-swap arrangements. All reasonable work-related travel expenses will be covered by the company.

Job Duties include:

Transport heavy loads and determine whether the Truck complies with weight and height limits on bridges and tunnels.

Plan routes and delivery schedules to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.

Conduct regular vehicle inspections and ensure all necessary maintenance is done.

Work closely with dispatchers to plan the number of miles to cover in a day and ensure timely deliveries.

Maintain accurate records of materials and products transported, including weight limits, hazardous materials, and miles driven.

Maintain contact with the base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to new locations and coordinate driving routes.

Operate equipment on the Truck or B-train combination, where required, to load, unload, or disperse cargo or material.

Obtain customer signatures or collect payment for goods delivered and associated delivery charges.

Weigh the truck before and after loading to ensure weight limits are not exceeded.

Ensure the load is secure and in good condition to prevent loss or damage during transport.

Be prepared to handle hazardous or emergency conditions as they arise.

Working Hours & Compensation:

The candidate will be required to work minimum 30 hours per week.

Hourly rate between $28 and $35 per hour.

Requirements:

Valid Class-5 Truck Driver’s license OR equivalent overseas heavy truck license.

Clean driving record.

Relevant truck driving experience will be highly preferred.

Must be available to work weekends.

Must be able to work flexible shifts.

Must pass drug and alcohol tests.

Must be capable of unloading heavy goods from the truck.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.

Self-motivated, hardworking, and passionate.

* Applicants must be flexible and willing to work across the Canterbury and Southland regions, as required, to meet business needs. The company will cover the cost of fuel/ travel and relocation.

Pay: $28.00 – $35.00 per hour
