Vegetation Controller
Job Description
The Top Energy Group operates throughout the Far North delivering geothermal electricity generation and electricity network operations. We are enabling Northland to contribute to the decarbonisation challenge by transforming the Top Energy Group into a technology-enabled energy company that generates and facilitates two-way energy flow between renewable energy generators and consumers.
About the role
As a member of the Top Energy Vegetation Control team, you will assist with carrying out vegetation clearance work around power lines during regular scheduled maintenance, or fault response operations either supervised or unsupervised, as directed.
This role reports to the Vegetation Supervisor and is based at the Puketona Depot.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be physically fit and hold a full clean driver's licence, have arborist or forestry experience and be competent in the use of chainsaws. A Class 4 licence would be an added bonus, as would experience working with power-operated elevating working platforms.
It would be advantageous to have knowledge of the Electricity (Hazards from Trees) Regulations 2003 and the Codes of Practice for the maintenance of trees around power lines, as well as holding, or having previously held, a Close Working Zone certificate.
Key areas of focus
Complete chargeable arborist works safely and efficiently
Service machinery and safety equipment to ensure it remains fit for purpose
Complete paperwork and return equipment as required to support accurate job invoicing
Consistently meet, and wherever possible exceed, customer expectations
Maintain high safety standards for equipment, the work environment, yourself and others
Be available to work outside normal working hours for overtime or to assist with the operation of Top Energy's network
