First Mates, Last Laugh is centrally located on Westhaven Marina, overlooking the yachts and Auckland city.

Owned and operated by renowned restauranteur Judith Tabron, we have quickly become a local's favourite, with our warm and inviting atmosphere that feels like home and a getaway all at once.  Our delicious food, eclectic cocktails and thoughtful beverage selection have been welcomed with rave reviews!

We operate seven days a week, from 11am to late, and we are looking for skilled Front of House Superstars to keep creating exceptional experiences for our guests. Fixed-term (Summer season) and Part-time positions available.

Waiter

You must have a passion for the hospitality industry

Take food and beverage orders (ensuring they are accurate for table, guest position and coursing), serve orders, answer questions and attend to guest requests

Ensure that guests receive efficient and courteous service at all times, addressing guest concerns, and resolving complaints

Interact with guests and advise on food, wine and beverage options. When needed advise on beverage & food pairing

Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of all menu items and daily specials

Upselling through the knowledge of our products and creating an engaged and authentic rapport with our guests

Confidence managing and maintaining a multiple-table section while following our sequence of service

Maintain a high standard of table service, using established food handling and serving techniques

* Ensure that customers receive efficient and courteous service at all times

Preferred Competencies

A minimum of 1 year working in a restaurant environment as a section waiter

Commitment to providing excellent guest experiences

Good knowledge of local and international food trends, wine and beverages

Knowledge of POS systems and cash handling skills

Bar Back

To consistently maintain a Bar environment that exceeds customer expectations and generates loyal customers.

Perform tasks to support the Bar Manager & Bartenders. Help with opening and closing duties, prepare and serve drinks, restock items to ensure the smooth running of the bar.

Assists the bartenders in the service of a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including classic cocktails and FMLL custom creations

Ensuring the bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer

Maintain the bar display to maximise functionality and attractiveness

Ensure the bar area is kept clean and tidy, glassware is washed and polished in a timely manner. Bussing tables taking orders and answering guest enquiries about products we are serving

* Prepare garnishes & batches to meet set standards
