Permanent Part Time Opportunity

$30.76 per hour + weekend penalties (where applicable) + Superannuation + Salary Packaging Benefits
Ongoing roster includes every Friday (10:00 am - 5:30 pm) and every second weekend (10:00 am - 5:30 pm)

Western District Health Service is seeking a highly organised and customer-focused Ward Clerk to join our Emergency Department team.
This rewarding role places you at the heart of the Emergency Department, where you'll be the first point of contact for patients, families and visitors. Working closely with nursing, medical and administrative staff, you'll play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of one of the busiest areas of the hospital.
We are looking for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in providing outstanding customer service during what can often be a stressful time for patients and families.
What You'll Be Doing
Customer Service & Reception
Welcome patients and families, respond to enquiries and provide a positive and professional experience within the Emergency Department.
Patient Registration & Administration
Register patients, update demographic information and process admissions, discharges and transfers accurately and efficiently.
Information Management
Maintain accurate patient records and enter information into TrakCare, EMR and other hospital systems in accordance with departmental procedures.
Coordination & Support
Assist with appointment bookings, medical record management, correspondence and administrative processes that support patient flow and departmental operations.
Team Support
Provide administrative support to the Emergency Department team, including supporting rostering, procurement activities and general departmental administration.
What You Bring
Exceptional customer service skills
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Experience in administration, reception or customer service roles
Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Ability to learn and use clinical information systems
Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills
Current Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
