Accountant

• Kane Group are an established, and successful multi-disciplinary building-services solution contractor, with our Head Office based in Banbridge, Northern Ireland.
• About the Role
• The Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts and the delivery of timely and accurate financial information and analysis to support decision making across the business.
• Working closely with the Financial Controller, the role contributes to budgeting, project performance reporting, financial control activities and compliance requirements.
• | KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |
• Prepare monthly management accounts including the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
• Perform financial accounting activities including journal entries, profit and loss account reconciliations, financial analysis and audit preparation.
• Monitor, analyse and report on project performance, providing financial insight on costs, margins and profitability to support decision making.
• Support the preparation, administration and reporting of budgets, using Excel reporting tools.
• Conduct departmental reviews to include risk and opportunity reporting and budget reviews.
• Business Partnering with department managers to provide financial insight and support effective commercial decision-making.
• Responsible for daily bank administration including bank reconciliations, weekly and monthly payment processing and cash flow forecasting.
• Responsible for sales invoice processing, cash collection and liaising with clients.
• Support tax administration and compliance activities, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
• Support grant applications and take responsibility for the preparation and submission of grant claims.
• Preparation of government statistical returns.
• Develop, recommend and implement process improvements
• Review procedures to achieve and maintain best practice.
• Development and maintain company templates using advanced MS Excel formulae
• Collaborate effectively with other departments.
• Support, mentor and develop finance apprentices, sharing knowledge and encouraging professional development.
• Any other duties which may be reasonably requested to fulfil the requirements of the position.
• | QUALIFICATIONS |
• Essential
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or equivalent recognised qualification).
• Desirable
• Relevant post qualification professional development.
• | EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE |
• Essential
• At least 2 years recent post-qualification experience within an industry-based finance role.
• Desirable
• Experience within the construction, engineering, MEP or project-based contracting sector.
• Experience working with ROI and/or Dutch tax regulations, including VAT, payroll taxes and corporate tax requirements.
