Job description

Job Title: Accounting Technician

Salary: £35,570 to £36,581

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Carlisle (Hybrid working arrangements are available)

Contract: Permanent

About this opportunity

Join Cumberland Council’s Finance Team and play an important role in supporting the delivery of vital public services.

As an Accounting Technician you will be part of the Councils Finance team, supporting effective financial management across the Council. Key responsibilities include supporting financial control and reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial information and improving financial processes and systems.

The post holder will also have the opportunity to support the wider functions of the finance team such as budget setting, monitoring and forecasting, maintaining the general ledger and assisting with the closure of accounts.

Applicants should have strong numerical, analytical and spreadsheet skills alongside attention to detail and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.

This is an opportunity to develop broad local government finance experience within a supportive and professional team. The role offers varied work, continued professional development and the chance to help ensure public money is managed responsibly for Cumberland’s residents.

This role is offered on a permanent basis. The office location is the Civic Centre, Carlisle; however, hybrid working arrangements are available.
