Asphalt Haulage - Class 5 Leading Hand

atw Trucks is seeking an experienced Class 5 Leading Hand to be part of a small specialised team. Based out of Tauranga, the role involves asphalt haulage both locally and regionally (Rotorua, Hamilton and Auckland) and is suited to a reliable operator who takes pride in safe, efficient and professional heavy vehicle operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class 5 heavy vehicles
• Available to work either day or night shifts as well as potential for stay away.
• Takes pride in keeping their gear clean, comply with the company’s H&S and work well in a team environment.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report maintenance or safety issues.
• Maintain accurate delivery and driving records.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers and site teams.

Skills & Experience

• Essential:
• Current NZ Class 5 Driver Licence.
• Minimum5 years' Class 5 driving experience with semi trailers.
• Strong commitment to safe driving and compliance.
• Reliable, punctual and professional.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently and lead a team.
• Basic understanding of cost savings
• Willingness to travel and stay away round the North Island when required.
• Very confident with 18-speed Road Ranger
• Experience driving Kenworth units
• Positive attitude
• Experience in the asphalt or chip sealing industry.
• Mechanical aptitude
