An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Farm Hand to join a large-scale Angus beef operation in North West Tasmania.

This is a great opportunity for someone with beef or dairy experience who wants to build their skills within a commercial breeding operation that is continuing to grow and develop.

About Our Client

Our client is a family-owned Australian agricultural business with a large portfolio of pastoral properties across Tasmania and Victoria. The business has a strong focus on commercial agriculture, Angus beef production, pasture-based farming and sustainable land management.

The North West Tasmania operation is undergoing significant investment and development, with land progressively transitioning from dairy production into a large-scale Angus beef enterprise.

The operation currently has approximately 3,500 Angus breeders, with a mix of owned and agisted cattle. The long-term plan is to transition towards a 100% owned breeding operation, creating a significant commercial Angus enterprise.

This is a great time to join the team as the business continues to develop. You will work alongside experienced livestock and farm management teams and gain valuable experience across a large-scale breeding operation.

About the Role

Working as part of the farm team, you will be involved in the day-to-day care of the livestock and property.

Your responsibilities will include

• Day-to-day care and management of Angus cattle
• Livestock movements, drafting and yard work
• Low-stress cattle handling
• Calf and breeder management
• Monitoring animal health and condition
• Assisting with breeding and calving
• Pasture and grazing management
• Feeding and watering livestock
• Fencing and general farm maintenance
• Water infrastructure maintenance
• Tractor and machinery operation
• Supporting high standards of animal welfare and farm safety
• This is a hands-on role where you will be involved across different areas of the operation and work closely with the wider farm team.

About You

We’re ideally looking for someone with a minimum of 1 full season of practical beef cattle experience, although dairy experience will also be considered.

You will ideally have

• Hands-on beef cattle experience
• Good livestock handling and animal husbandry skills
• Experience working in cattle yards
• An interest in Angus cattle and commercial beef production
• Tractor and machinery experience
• Basic fencing and farm maintenance skills
• A strong work ethic and willingness to get stuck in
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• A current full driver's licence
• A strong commitment to animal welfare and safe work practices
• Working rights in Australia
• A formal agricultural qualification is advantageous, but practical experience, attitude and reliability are what matter most.

$65,000 – $75,000 AUD base salary ($80,000 - $93,000 NZD)
