Sales & Design - Pivot Irrigation
Job Description
Combine your interest in agriculture, irrigation and sales in a role where you can see your work make a real difference on-farm.
We’re looking for a Sales & Design professional to join a growing irrigation business in Ashburton. This is a varied role combining customer relationships, technical irrigation design, sales and project support, with a strong focus on centre pivot irrigation.
About our client
Our client is a family-owned and operated irrigation business based in Ashburton, supporting farmers and growers across Canterbury with practical irrigation solutions. With a strong focus on quality, service and long-term customer relationships, the business is continuing to grow and invest in its people and capability.
About the roleYou’ll work directly with farmers and growers to understand their requirements and develop practical irrigation solutions that work for their property, water resources and production goals.
You’ll be involved across the full process, including:
- Building relationships with farmers, growers, contractors and suppliers
- Meeting customers and understanding their irrigation requirements
- Designing centre pivot irrigation systems and developing property layouts
- Preparing quotes, proposals, equipment specifications and technical documentation
- Calculating water requirements, flow rates, pressures and system capacity
- Working with suppliers and installation teams to deliver projects
- Supporting site visits, installation, commissioning and customer handover
- Identifying new sales opportunities and managing projects through to completion
- About you
- You’ll be someone who enjoys working with people but also has a strong technical and practical side
Ideally, you’ll bring
Experience in irrigation, agriculture, engineering, water management or a related industry
Experience in technical sales, design or a similar role
An understanding of centre pivot irrigation (advantageous but not essential)
The ability to read plans and work confidently with measurements and calculations
Strong communication and customer service skills
Good organisation and the ability to manage multiple projects
A practical, solutions-focused approach
A current driver's licence
Relevant qualifications are helpful, but practical industry experience and the right attitude are just as important. If you have strong agricultural or irrigation experience and are looking to step into a more technical sales and design role, we’d like to hear from you.
What’s on offer?
Starting salary from $75,000, depending on experience
A varied role across agriculture, irrigation, sales and design
The opportunity to work on large-scale irrigation projects
Training and ongoing development
Support from an experienced team
The chance to build strong relationships with customers and play an important part in a growing business
Based in Ashburton, this is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career in the irrigation and agricultural sector.
If you’re technically minded, enjoy working with people and want a role where no two days are the same, we’d love to hear from you.
