Butchery Assistant - RM Prime Produce

RM Prime Produce is looking for a Butchery Assistant to join our team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic, an interest in food and retail, and a willingness to learn from some of the best in the industry.

You’ll work alongside our award-winning butchers, supporting both the retail operation and preparation for the wider hospitality precinct. With Christmas approaching, you’ll also play an important role in helping us organise and prepare customer orders during one of our busiest periods of the year.

Previous butchery experience is not essential — attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn are just as important.

About the Role

As a Butchery Assistant, you’ll support the day-to-day operation of RM Prime Produce, helping ensure our retail displays, products, orders and work areas are maintained to a consistently high standard.

Your responsibilities will include

• Delivering friendly and professional customer service
• Setting up, maintaining and merchandising the retail display cabinets
• Assisting with the preparation and traying of meats
• Weighing, packaging, vacuum packing and labelling products
• Ensuring product labels, weights, dates and batch information are accurate
• Supporting our butchers with preparation for restaurant menus
• Organising and assembling customer orders
• Helping coordinate orders ahead of the busy Christmas period
• Using the point-of-sale system and processing customer purchases
• Keeping the shop, preparation areas, equipment and workspaces clean and tidy
• Following all Food Safety and Health & Safety requirements
• Supporting the wider team wherever required
• What We’re Looking For
• You don’t necessarily need previous butchery experience, but ideally you’ll bring some experience from food preparation, hospitality, retail or a similar hands-on environment.

We’re looking for someone who

• Is reliable, organised and takes pride in their work
• Has a positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Has great attention to detail
• Is confident dealing with customers
• Has basic literacy and numeracy skills for labels, weights and product information
• Is physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting items of up to approximately 15kg
• Is comfortable working in chilled and temperature-controlled environments
• Understands the importance of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety
• Experience with POS systems, food preparation, retail or food safety would be advantageous, but full training can be provided for the right person.

• This role come with a minimum 30+ hours weekly and a wage range of $27.00 - $30.00 depending on experience.
