**Responsibilities**
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, vital signs, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems) accurately.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding of their care process.
- Perform clinical tasks such as drawing blood, administering medications under supervision, and assisting with X-ray procedures or other diagnostic tests.
- Support physicians with medical procedures in various specialties including dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine settings.
- Manage medical documentation including ICD coding, medication administration records, and detailed procedure notes to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
- Conduct routine assessments like measuring vital signs and monitoring patient physiology to inform clinical decisions.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, coordinating follow-up appointments, and ensuring a positive experience during outpatient or inpatient visits.
- Support hospital teams with specialized tasks such as assisting in the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), Geriatrics units, or Level I/II trauma centers when needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas while adhering to safety protocols for infection control and equipment handling.
**Qualifications**
- Valid certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program; prior experience in hospital medicine or outpatient clinics is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding practices.
- Experience working within EHR systems and familiarity with medical administrative support functions such as appointment scheduling and patient intake processes.
- Competency in performing clinical procedures including vital signs measurement, medication administration, basic life support (BLS), and assisting with diagnostic imaging like X-ray.
- Prior hospital experience in settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers, emergency departments, or surgical units is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments including urgent care clinics or inpatient units like the Geriatrics ward or PICU.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient care excellence; ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion.
