\r\n\r\nJob Description\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe Opportunity:\r\n\r\nThe 2nd Class Chief Power Engineer reports directly to the Reliability Leader.  Under your leadership, a team of stationary engineers will safely operate and maintain critical plant assets and systems within the powerhouse to maximize utility availability and efficiency.\r\n \r\n\r\nAny MLF team member interested in being considered for this role are encouraged to apply online by August 25. Applications received beyond that date are not guaranteed consideration.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nSnapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tConsistent with our leadership values, act as a champion for our culture by leading the Powerhouse team in the development and execution of a positive and productive environment that permeates through all levels and is focused on the needs of our people\r\n\tMaintain a safe and clean work environment by ensuring the plant and powerhouse are operating in accordance with TSASK regulations, and that all work performed complies with governing practices, codes and regulations.\r\n\tParticipate in the development, planning, execution, and review of preventative maintenance programs and standard operation procedures for areas under the powerhouse responsibility\r\n\tEnsure daily plant inspections of key equipment such as the ammonia-refrigeration, steam boilers, compressors, hot / cold / high pressure water systems such that all pressurized systems are operating in a safe and expected manner\r\n\tUtilize a state-of-the-art Building Automation System to monitor and control various systems throughout the facility including HVAC\r\n\tEnsure the accurate recording of data and all relevant information to the operation of the plant under the Chief Engineer’s jurisdiction\r\n\tProvide leadership to direct reports by setting clear expectations, promoting employee engagement, providing regular feedback, coaching and development\r\n\tAssess the performance of the operating engineers and take appropriate actions when needed in accordance with Company policies and TSSA regulations\r\n\tContribute to our sustainability culture by seeking to eliminate waste and taking actions to improve the efficiency of systems that consume natural gas, electricity, and water\r\n\tBe willing to take on additional responsibilities as position requires, including the duties of the operating engineer if ever needed\r\n\tRecognize, support and commit to the facility food safety and quality assurance promise\r\n\tContributes as a key member of the Management Team in strategic decisions including continuous improvement and Six Sigma initiatives\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWhat You’ll Bring:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tValid and current 2nd Class Stationary Engineer with a Refrigeration “A” Operator certificate\r\n\tMinimum 5 years of experience as a Chief Stationary Engineer\r\n\tStrong communication and motivational leadership skills with the ability to develop a positive safety culture within the team\r\n\tHigh sense of urgency, and a bias for action\r\n\tExperience with developing and executing Preventative Maintenance Plans\r\n\tExcellent planning, analytical and organizational skills\r\n\tExperience with CMMS & Process Software such as SAP and Factory Talk  \r\n\tInnovative and creative thinker to resolve problems, offer multiple solutions to challenges and recognize potential opportunities\r\n\tExperience with Process Improvement Methodologies (Six Sigma, RCA, RCM etc.)\r\n\tExperience in Food Processing or Manufacturing environment would be considered an asset\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWhat We Offer at Maple Leaf Foods:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tBeing part of a high-performance, people-focused company that has an inspiring and unique vision to become the most sustainable protein company on earth, and a deep commitment to sustainable protein across North America.\r\n\tAn inclusive company culture and a work environment that keeps our people safe, rewards excellence, and empowers everyone to learn and contribute their best.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n
