The Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) Clinical Lead provides clinical and professional leadership within a multidisciplinary team delivering specialist mental health services to adults with complex and enduring mental health needs. The post holder is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, recovery-focused and person-centred care that promotes wellbeing, independence and positive outcomes for service users and carers.

Working alongside the Team Manager and wider leadership team, the Clinical Lead will provide expert clinical leadership, support complex decision-making, oversee risk management processes and maintain oversight of clinical standards across the service. The role includes supporting staff development, promoting evidence-based practice and ensuring compliance with professional, organisational and statutory requirements.

The post holder will play a key role in the transformation of community mental health services, supporting the implementation of the Neighbourhood Mental Health Model, pathway development and integrated working with health, social care and voluntary sector partners. Provide clinical and professional leadership within the CMHT, supporting the delivery of safe, effective and recovery-focused care. Offer expert advice and guidance on complex clinical presentations, risk management, assessment, formulation and care planning.

Support and develop multidisciplinary staff through supervision, coaching, mentorship and professional leadership. Promote evidence-based, trauma-informed and strengths-based practice throughout the service.

Lead and contribute to clinical governance activities, including audit, quality improvement, service evaluation and the implementation of lessons learnt from incidents, complaints and feedback. Support workforce development through recruitment, appraisal, competency development and succession planning.

Support the implementation of the Neighbourhood Mental Health Model by working collaboratively with primary care, social care, voluntary and community sector organisations and other partners to improve integration and access to services.

Lead pathway development and service redesign initiatives to improve patient flow, transitions of care and service effectiveness. Monitor quality, performance and outcomes, implementing improvements where required.
