Job Description

Looking for a part-time veterinary role that gives you flexibility, great clients and a supportive team around you? CareVets Oratia is growing, and we’re looking for a Companion Animal Veterinarian to join us in a consulting-focused role, 2–3 days per week*.*

With no weekend work*, flexible hours and an experienced nursing team to support you, this could be a great fit for someone looking for a role that works well around life outside the clinic. Some hours will be sole charge, so we’re looking for someone confident working independently while still enjoying being part of a close-knit team.*

Why join us?

-        Flexible 2–3 day role*, around 16–24 hours per week*

-        No weekend work and flexibility for the right candidate

-        Fun, supportive community clinic with great clients and experienced nurses

About the Clinic

CareVets Oratia is a well-established companion animal practice in the heart of the welcoming Oratia community.

We’re a progressive clinic with an extended surgical caseload and a strong focus on nurse consults. With a passionate and dedicated team, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional care to our furry clients and building lasting relationships with their owners.

We’re a fun, busy and supportive clinic that genuinely enjoys working together — you’ll find plenty of laughs, morning teas and coffees, and a team that has your back.

Our experienced nursing team provides great support, and we have a wonderful group of clients who value the care we provide.

This is a new position created through clinic growth, giving you the opportunity to join us at an exciting time.

About the Role

This is a consulting-focused Companion Animal Veterinarian role, working approximately 16–24 hours per week across 2–3 days.

There is no weekend work, and we’re happy to be flexible around the working week for the right candidate.

Your responsibilities will include

•       Providing high-quality companion animal consultations

•       Preventative healthcare and routine health checks

•       Diagnosing and managing a range of medical cases

•       Developing and managing appropriate treatment plans

•       Performing routine procedures as appropriate to the consulting role

•       Using diagnostics to support patient workups

•       Building strong, trusted relationships with clients

•       Working closely with our experienced veterinary nursing team

•       Maintaining high standards of patient care and clinical records

Some hours will be sole charge, so confidence working independently is important. You’ll still have the support of our experienced nursing team and the wider CareVets network.
