The role
Our West Auckland Rest Home is seeking a passionate and creative Diversional Therapist / Activities Coordinator to join our aged care team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.
What you’ll be doing:
Design and deliver a varied, resident-focused activity programme
Facilitate group and one-to-one activities that support cognitive, physical, and emotional wellbeing
Encourage resident engagement, independence, and social connection
Maintain accurate documentation and activity plans
Involve families, volunteers, and community groups where appropriate
Ensure activities align with residents' cultural, spiritual, and personal preferences
Comply with aged care standards, health and safety, and infection control requirements
What you’ll bring:
Qualification in Diversional Therapy, Recreation, or a related field (preferred)
Experience working in aged care or with older adults
Warm, empathetic, and engaging communication style
Excellent communication skills
Creative, organised, and able to motivate others
Strong time management and documentation skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Good computer and system management skills
Ability to follow policies and procedures to meet audit requirements
