About our client

Our client is a second-generation, family-owned New Zealand business with more than 30 years of experience in irrigation.

Based in Ashburton, they provide irrigation design, installation, servicing, repairs and upgrades across the South Island. With the business continuing to grow across North and South Canterbury, this is a great opportunity to join an established local business at an exciting stage of growth.

About the role

We’re looking for an EPI Team Leader to lead the Engineering, Pumping & Infrastructure team.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, combining engineering and field work with team coordination, project work and subcontractor management. You’ll work across irrigation pump systems, fault finding, pipelines and associated infrastructure.

This would suit an experienced engineer or trades professional who is ready to step into leadership and develop their skills further.

Key responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the EPI team and daily work

Install, service and repair irrigation pump systems

Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults

Assist with pipelines, power and infrastructure work

Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers

Support projects from site preparation through to completion

Ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard

Manage tools, equipment and materials

Identify opportunities to improve system performance and reliability

About you

You’ll bring strong technical skills, a practical approach and the confidence to lead others.

Ideally, you’ll have

Engineering or relevant trade experience
Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
Experience with pumps, hydraulics, irrigation or infrastructure
Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
Experience coordinating people or contractors
Strong organisation and communication
A full NZ driver licence
You don’t need to have been a team leader before — this could suit someone ready to take that next step.
