Financial Accountant 6 month Contract

We're looking for an experienced Accountant to step into a hands-on contract role within the accounting services team of a large trans-Tasman infrastructure business. You'll support the back-office finance function across Australian and New Zealand operations, providing accurate reporting and reliable information that helps the business make informed decisions. This position suits someone who enjoys working at pace, takes pride in month-end rigour and looks for ways to improve processes.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver accurate and timely month-end processing, including cost analysis, accruals, recharges and journals

Complete balance sheet reconciliations and follow up outstanding items

Prepare financial and management reporting

Support project and contract accounting, including job closure and supporting information for alliance contracts

Contribute to budgeting and forecasting

Monitor and report on retentions, bonds and bank guarantees

Support audit, tax and compliance, including liaising with auditors

Partner with finance, operations and functional stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand

Suggest and support continuous process improvement

About You

You will thrive if you bring

A tertiary qualification in commerce or financial management, plus a Chartered Accountancy qualification

Experience in an equivalent finance role

Experience providing financial management support to the business

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

High attention to detail, a strong work ethic and adaptability under pressure
