Functions Manager / Maitre D'

Hours of Work: Guaranteed a minimum of 30hours per week. Rostered hours, including weekends and nights.

We are looking for a professional, reliable and proactive candidate who coordinates our functions at the Cardrona Hotel. Our functions include weddings, half garden hires, birthday parties, corporate functions and Christmas parties - this means a lot of variety in service.

You will oversee our award-winning restaurant and be hands-on involved in our day-to-day operations and dinner service, taking the role of a Maitre D', running food and organising other wait staff. This provides you with all necessary insights needed for the coordination of our functions. You will be overseeing the entire function lifecycle, from initial inquiries to post-event follow-up.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

The functions coordinator role will involve

• Responsible for the coordination and smooth running of functions and events by liaising with customers, the head chef, management and staff.
• Oversee the entire function lifecycle, from initial inquiries to post-event follow-up.
• Work closely with the kitchen, housekeeping and management departments ensuring communication flows effectively.
• Hands-on approach to jump in and help wherever needed including all areas of the hotel including restaurant/pass, bar, reception/check-ins.
• Promotion of the hotel functions including weddings and corporate bookings, including Christmas and staff parties, etc.
• Manage the premises as the duty manager in relation to the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and manage the staff to ensure they are working within the law and that the Cardrona Hotel is a safe establishment.
• Skills, Experience & Qualifications Required

The successful candidate will need to have

At least two years experience in a similar fast-paced hospitality business and/or function venue.

Have a current New Zealand Managers Certificate.

Ability to work quickly and safely.

Excellent verbal communication skills.

* Be proactive and have strong leadership skills.

This is a long-term position and available from early November. Please make sure you know where we are located as you need to be able to stop by for a trial shift.
