Job Description

Capital Solutions Group

Goldman Sachs operates at the fulcrum of one of the most important structural trends in finance: the convergence of public and private markets. We combine the #1 global advisory franchise, a leading origination business, and an investing platform that deploys capital across liquid and alternative asset classes.

Our Capital Solutions Group is a comprehensive suite of our financing, origination, structuring, and risk management solutions. The depth and breadth of our relationships, enriched by the velocity of our deal flow, provide clients unique insights to maximize value and unlock opportunity.

Our integrated structure is built to provide comprehensive, tailored solutions that propel both our issuing and investing clients forward

Leveraged Finance

Our Leveraged Finance group originates structures, advises and executes bank loan and high yield bond financings for corporate clients and financial sponsors, including LBOs, refinancing, M&A transactions and restructurings. Leverage Finance teams serve as intermediaries between the debt capital markets (including sales, trading, research, and buy side investors) and our issuing clients. Given underwriting requirements for many of the transactions, the group works closely with multiple areas of the firm including Classic Investment Banking, Credit, Capital Markets and Research.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Execution & Deal Leadership

Lead day-to-day execution of private debt / direct lending leveraged finance transactions.

Coordinate across internal product groups (M&A, Sponsors, ECM, Risk, Legal, Goldman's Credit Partners) and external counterparties to drive transactions from origination through closing.

Lead financial modeling, credit analysis, valuation, diligence and structuring work for complex leveraged financings and recapitalizations.

Prepare and deliver high-quality internal underwriting and syndication materials (lender presentations, model, etc.).

Client & Sponsor Coverage

Serve as a primary point of contact for private equity sponsors, private credit funds, and corporate management teams.

Support senior bankers in originating new private debt and leveraged finance opportunities, including pitch development and relationship management.

Demonstrate commercial judgment in identifying financing solutions aligned with client objectives and prevailing market conditions.

Team Leadership & Development

Manage, mentor, and review the work of Associates and Analysts, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to Goldman's standards.

Provide coaching and feedback to junior team members on technical skills, presentation quality, and professional development.

Help foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture.

Market & Product Expertise

Maintain a strong understanding of private credit markets, investor appetite, documentation trends, leverage metrics, and regulatory considerations.

Track competitive dynamics across private debt providers, BDCs, CLOs, and alternative asset managers.

Contribute to the ongoing development of Goldman’s Leveraged Finance franchise through thought leadership and market insights.
