Head Chef

About the role

As Head Chef, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the CBK Ferrymead kitchen, ensuring consistently high food standards while maintaining strong control over food costs, labour, stock, cleanliness and kitchen systems. You will work closely with the Venue Manager and senior management team to ensure the kitchen delivers an excellent experience for our customers while operating efficiently and professionally.

Key responsibilities

Leading, training and developing the kitchen team

Maintaining consistent food quality, presentation and portion control

Managing kitchen rosters and labour efficiently

Food ordering, stock control and supplier management

Monitoring food costs and reducing wastage

Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness

Ensuring prep, service and kitchen systems are organised and efficient

Managing busy services calmly and effectively

Supporting recruitment, onboarding and training of kitchen staff

Ensuring CBK recipes, specifications and operating standards are consistently followed

About you

Has strong experience in a Head Chef, Senior Sous Chef or similar leadership position

Is confident running a busy commercial kitchen

Is a strong people leader who can motivate and develop a team

Understands food cost, wage control and stock management

Has excellent organisational and time-management skills

Takes pride in consistency and attention to detail

Can remain calm and professional during high-volume services

Has a strong understanding of NZ food safety requirements

* Is reliable, accountable and willing to lead from the front
