• Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Kaituruki Matua - Senior Tutor to join Te Kura Matauranga Koiora - School of Biological Sciences' teaching team on a fixed-term, full-time basis.
• This role is 37.5 hours per week, and the fixed-term duration is from 11 January to 17 December 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Leading the delivery of laboratory classes at 100-, 200- and 300-level.
• Leading or participating in the recruitment, training and management of laboratory demonstrators.
• Contributing to the development of new laboratory classes.
• Providing teaching support for one or more course coordinators, with respect to student support, assessment and blended learning.

• We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic Kaituruki Matua - Senior Tutor who can work independently and also contribute positively to the wider teaching team.

You will have

A postgraduate qualification in a relevant area of the Biological Sciences.

Have experience in successful teaching and tutoring at tertiary level, ideally in the context of undergraduate laboratory classes.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts efficiently and effectively.

Ability to work with others, and to work independently with a minimum of supervision.

Demonstrated ability, or clear potential, to build and maintain appropriate professional working relationships or networks of contact.

* Ability to coordinate and manage groups.
