The Mental Health and Addictions Programme delivers specialist undergraduate and postgraduate education that supports the development of Aotearoa New Zealand's mental health and addiction workforce. The programme works closely with health sector partners to deliver contemporary, practice-informed education that responds to current and emerging workforce needs.

The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

We have a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) opportunity for a motivated Lecturer (Teaching and Learning) to make a significant contribution through teaching and service within the Mental Health and Addictions Programme.

The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and support the ongoing development of high-quality educational experiences across the programme portfolio. Responsibilities include:

Teaching and assessment across Addictions courses

Curriculum design, review and enhancement

Development of innovative teaching and learning resources

Student support, supervision and academic guidance

Course coordination and moderation activities

Engagement with professional and industry stakeholders

Contribution to programme and School service activities

Contemporary Professional Practice

Contributing to programme development, innovative teaching methods, assessment design, marking and the development of educational resources are key aspects of this role. About you | Ko wai koe

We are looking for an educator who is passionate about Addictions education and committed to supporting student success, workforce development and excellence in professional practice.

Qualifications

A postgraduate qualification in Mental Health, Addictions, Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Counselling or a related discipline

Current dapaanz registration

A doctoral qualification, or progress towards one, would be advantageous

Teaching

Experience teaching and supporting adult learners

Experience in curriculum development and innovative teaching practice

Ability to create engaging and inclusive learning environments

Experience supervising, mentoring or supporting students

Scholarship and Professional Practice

Demonstrated commitment to maintaining professional relevance and industry engagement

Ability to apply evidence-informed practice within teaching and learning

Interest in educational scholarship and continuous improvement

Equity and Te Aronui
