Mechanical Design Engineer
Accredited employerFull-timeNZ$100,000 - NZ$120,000Posted 1 week ago
Job Description
- Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives on complex, high-spec engineering where precision, performance and getting the detail right actually matters?
- Alignz Recruitment is looking to connect with talented Mechanical Design Engineers for current and upcoming opportunities across advanced engineering and manufacturing environments.
- We’re particularly interested in engineers coming from aerospace, aviation, defence, precision manufacturing, automation, robotics, motorsport or complex mechanical systems.
- If you're used to designing components and assemblies where tolerances, materials, manufacturability and reliability aren't negotiable, we want to hear from you.
- THE WORK
- Depending on the opportunity and your background, you could be involved in:
- Mechanical component and system design
- Complex 3D modelling and assemblies
- Detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings
- Precision components and mechanical assemblies
- Design for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA)
- Prototype development and design iteration
- Material and component selection
- Tolerance analysis and dimensional control
- GD&T and detailed technical documentation
- Engineering calculations and design validation
- Design reviews and technical problem-solving
- Working closely with manufacturing, machining and fabrication teams
- Supporting projects from initial concept through to manufacture and commissioning
- Improving existing products, machinery and mechanical systems
- WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- We're interested in engineers with experience in some of the following:
- Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering qualification
- Professional mechanical design experience
- SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, Siemens NX, Creo or similar 3D CAD
- Complex assemblies and detailed component design
- GD&T and tolerance stack-up
- Precision machining and manufacturing processes
- CNC-machined component design
- Sheet metal and fabricated component design
- Material selection and engineering specifications
- Design verification and validation
- FEA / simulation exposure
- Engineering change and configuration control
- Technical drawings, BOMs and manufacturing documentation
- Design for manufacturability
- AEROSPACE & HIGH-PRECISION BACKGROUNDS
- Experience within aerospace or aviation engineering would be highly regarded, particularly if you've worked with:
- Flight or mission-critical mechanical components
- Lightweight structures and assemblies
- Aluminium, stainless, titanium or engineering composites
- High-precision CNC components
- Tight-tolerance assemblies
- Aerospace manufacturing environments
- Traceability and controlled engineering documentation
- Configuration management
- Prototype and low-volume/high-complexity manufacturing
- Testing, verification and validation
- Quality-driven or highly regulated engineering environments
- Aerospace experience isn't essential.
- We also want to hear from strong engineers coming from defence, motorsport, robotics, automation, medical devices, precision engineering and advanced manufacturing where similar engineering disciplines apply.
- YOU'LL PROBABLY ENJOY THIS IF...
You're the engineer who wants to understand why something works, not just make the CAD model look pretty.
You think about:
Loads. Tolerances. Materials. Weight. Manufacturing. Assembly. Reliability. Performance.
And you can work comfortably between the design office and the people actually manufacturing what you've designed.
WHAT'S ON OFFER
- Intermediate through to Senior opportunities
- Technically challenging mechanical design work
- Exposure to precision and advanced manufacturing
- Work across the full engineering lifecycle
- Opportunities to take concepts through to physical manufacture
- Established and growing engineering businesses
- Competitive remuneration based on capability and experience
- Bay of Plenty and Waikato opportunities
- Long-term career development
- INTERESTED?
- If you're a Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Product Design Engineer or Senior Mechanical Designer looking for technically challenging work, we'd like to hear from you.
- Hit Apply Now with your CV.
- If you've worked in aerospace, aviation, defence or another high-precision engineering environment, make sure it's clearly shown in your application.
