\r\n\r\nJob Description\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n The Opportunity:\r\n\r\nThe Production Manager will be accountable for ensuring lines are always running effectively and optimally within their area with a trained team in place. This role will lead by example and inspire their team to deliver top results, is passionate about safety and promotes a culture where safety comes first. They will thrive in an environment that is fast paced, has a keen sense for continuous improvement and an approach that is collaborative and offers a forum where everyone feels comfortable to bring forward new ideas. \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nSnapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tAccountable for production costs, labour utilization, yields, results of operations and cost improvements in the department.\r\n\tDevelop and drive a strong safety culture (Health and Safety and Food Safety and Quality Assurance).\r\n\tDevelop employees through training and coaching, providing clear roles and consistent support and feedback for all employees.\r\n\tFoster and maintain positive union and employee relations environment by treating all employees with respect, providing timely feedback and grievance resolution.\r\n\tHold employees accountable and drive performance through key metrics that are tied back to the vision.\r\n\tContinuously seek ways to improve manufacturing operational results and efficiencies while meeting customer expectations and minimizing waste.\r\n\tDevelop a cohesive, competent Supervisory group and plan for development and succession planning.\r\n\tSupport Marketing/Sales with respect to new and existing product development initiatives and customer inquiries.\r\n\tOptimize and ensure execution of weekly and monthly production schedules.\r\n\tEnsure compliance with the CFIA, Workplace Health and Safety and other legislative bodies that impact plant performance.\r\n\tDemonstrate full commitment to the implementation of the requirements of the Global Standard for Food Safety and to processes which facilitate continual improvement of food safety and quality management.\r\n\tAudit processes: People System, FSQA, Reliability predictive practices.\r\n\tConduct team meetings to review KPIs, FSQA, People, Reliability and CI.\r\n\tWork with the Six Sigma team on process improvement projects.\r\n\tDemonstrate an active involvement/commitment to a progressive health and safety program and food safety program\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWhat You’ll Bring:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tPost-secondary education or relevant work experience.\r\n\tMultiple years of management experience in a unionized, manufacturing environment.\r\n\tStrong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.\r\n\tStrong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.\r\n\tAbility to work as a team with all functional areas to support a common goal.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWhat We Offer at Maple Leaf Foods:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tBeing part of a high-performance, people-focused company that has an inspiring and unique vision to become the most sustainable protein company on earth, and a deep commitment to sustainable protein across North America.\r\n\tAn inclusive company culture and a work environment that keeps our people safe, rewards excellence, and empowers everyone to learn and contribute their best.\r\n\tCompetitive Health and Wellness benefits that offer flexibility to meet your individual or family needs, including programs focused on improving mental health and wellbeing.
