Programme Coordinator - Strategy, Regulation Governance
Job Description
13-month fixed-term role providing business and financial administration support
Varied work including project coordination, scheduling and progress updates
Keep activities running smoothly and improve processes and ways of working
Our purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand — a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable, secure electricity system.
At the forefront of the energy sector, Transpower owns and operates the national electricity transmission system and fulfils the System Operator role. Our work supports homes, communities, industries, and the transition to a low-emissions future.
Role context
This role sits within our Grid Pricing team in the Strategy, Regulation & Governance (SRG) division, reporting to the Head of Grid Pricing. You’ll provide professional administration and business support across the team and wider division.
Your focus will be anticipating day-to-day needs, keeping activities organised and supporting financial processes, reporting and project coordination.
You’ll work with people across the division to coordinate meetings and travel, manage information and identify practical improvements to everyday administration.
About the team
The Grid Pricing team is a small, high-performing, and influential group responsible for administering how Transpower’s grid costs (approximately $1B annually) are recovered from customers.
Within the broader SRG division, the team contributes to ensuring Transpower meets its commercial, regulatory, and strategic obligations.
The division provides leadership and coordination across
Business strategy and strategic initiatives
Regulatory and legal advice
Sustainability programmes and delivery
Governance and secretariat support to the Transpower Board and Executive Leadership Team
The opportunity— 13-month parental leave cover
Provide high-quality administration, business, and financial support to both the Grid Pricing team and the wider SRG division, with your time expected to be split roughly equally between them as needs change. You’ll liaise across Transpower and with external partners where required.
Working with initiative and sound judgement, you’ll keep day-to-day activities running smoothly while supporting projects, financial processes, and continuous improvement.
Varied work includes:
Providing day-to-day administration and business support, including coordinating meetings, workshops, travel, and team events; distributing papers and taking minutes; and supporting reporting, onboarding and offboarding
Supporting financial administration, including purchase orders, invoices, vendor set-up, monthly accruals, and budget information
Managing information, communications, and documentation accurately and confidentially, while leading or supporting improvements to processes, tools and ways of working
Coordinating business projects by maintaining plans and schedules, tracking progress, preparing updates and reporting, and supporting project leads and decision-making
Supporting pricing reviews and consultations, including coordinating customer input and responses
What will you bring?
You’ll bring sound judgement, a practical approach and proven experience providing administration and business support to managers and teams. You’ll communicate confidently, build effective stakeholder relationships and provide practical project coordination support when required.
Organised, detail-focused and proactive, you’ll enjoy managing a myriad of priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and service.
Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:
Proven experience in administration, business or office support roles (ideally 5+ years)
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a structured and methodical way
Strong attention to detail while working at pace
Experience supporting managers and teams, with the ability to assist with project schedules and progress updates
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and stakeholder engagement
Experience using Microsoft Office and business systems
Also advantageous:
Experience working in a regulated or infrastructure environment
Exposure to financial or procurement processes
Experience supporting governance, reporting or compliance-related activities
Understanding of the electricity sector or pricing/regulatory environments
