Sealing Manager - Auckland

Due to an internal transfer, we are on the lookout for a Sealing Manager to lead our chip sealing operations across the greater Auckland area and beyond. This sector of the North Island Surfacing business is successful, with strong financial performance, solid long term forward workbook, teams that deliver high-quality work.

The Opportunity

You run the Sealing operations across the wider Auckland region — you will ensure jobs are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You will lead the team with support from reporting Project Manager, Project Engineers, Surfacing Cadet, Supervisors, Foreman and Crews. You will have responsibility for the total financial performance, equipment and people, client relationships. Current configuration has 2 x full sealing crews and a dedicated membrane team, total staff of 20. Role is based out of the HEB Wiri head office.

This role suits someone who knows chip sealing surfacing inside out, enjoys leading people and working on innovative solutions to solve operations and business challenges.

Reporting to the North Island Surfacing Manager you will be part of a strong leadership team delivering repeatable quality with a continual business improvement strategy.

What You’ll Do

Lead safe, high‑quality delivery of surfacing work

Support contract performance, planning, estimating, and reporting

Make sure people and equipment are utilised optimally

Coach and develop your team

Help with recruitment, onboarding, and building capability, succession planning

Look after equipment needs and work with our team on CAPEX

Build relationships with existing and new clients, consultants, suppliers, and JV partners

About you

10+ years in roading, sealing, or surfacing operations

NZ based experience

Leadership and mana, calm under pressure

Deep understanding of surfacing delivery and equipment

Sound commercial judgement

A practical, solutions‑focused approach

Civil Engineering qualification (or similar) preferred
