Banyule City Council is seeking a highly capable Senior Procurement Coordinator to lead our procurement function and drive a strategic, risk-aware and value-focused approach to procurement across the organisation.

This leadership role presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of procurement, influence key business decisions and deliver meaningful outcomes for our community.

The opportunity

This is leadership role with the opportunity to drive

procurement governance, prioritisation, planned sourcing and performance across

Council while embedding best-practice procurement approaches. You will advise

  • executive leaders, represent procurement in governance and planning forums, and
  • lead a growing team fostering a culture of collaboration, early engagement,
  • innovation, capability development and strong governance.
  • *What
  • you'll be doing:*
  • Set
  • the strategic direction, priorities and operating model for procurement
  • across Council.
  • Coach
  • and develop the procurement team while building procurement capability
  • across the organisation
  • Partner
  • with leaders across Council to influence strategic procurement decisions.
  • Strengthen
  • procurement governance, policy, assurance, delegations and probity.
  • Maintain
  • visibility of Council's procurement pipeline and lead regular
  • prioritisation.
  • Build
  • procurement capability and uplift procurement maturity across the
  • organisation.
  • Ensure
  • procurement practices align with legislative, governance and
  • sustainability requirements.

You are a strategic and resilient procurement leader who

combines strong commercial judgement with a practical, collaborative approach.

You can navigate complexity, influence senior stakeholders and translate

governance requirements into clear, effective ways of working. You will bring:

Significant experience

leading procurement functions, strategic sourcing programs or complex

commercial operations.

Demonstrated ability

to lead and develop high-performing teams

Strong commercial,

financial and risk management capability.

Experience developing

governance frameworks, policies and procurement standards.

Exceptional

stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

Public sector procurement experience is desirable; CIPS or

  • equivalent professional qualifications will be highly regarded.
