- An employer the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) has recognised to sponsor foreign workers. Only a recognised sponsor can hire someone on a highly skilled migrant (kennismigrant) permit, and its applications are decided faster. 13,018 employers are on the work register this month.
- How much must a highly skilled migrant earn in 2026?
- At least €5,942 gross a month without holiday pay from age 30, €4,357 under 30, and €3,122 for those who qualify for the reduced criterion, such as recent graduates. The EU Blue Card asks €5,942.
- Can care assistants, farm workers or drivers get sponsored this way?
- Rarely: most of these jobs pay below the highly skilled migrant threshold. Employers can still hire from outside the EU with a combined permit (GVVA), but the UWV first checks whether the job can be filled from the Netherlands or the EU. Nurses with a recognised diploma, engineers, IT specialists and senior chefs are the roles that usually clear the threshold.
