Chief Executive Officer

About the role

Reporting to the Directors, the CEO will be responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction and day-to-day performance of Watersports Limited. This is a hands-on executive role requiring strong operational oversight, financial discipline, team leadership, safety focus and the ability to grow a respected adventure tourism business in a competitive market.

Key responsibilities

Provide strategic and operational leadership across all activities

Maintain compliance with all statutory, regulatory and legal obligations across the business

Ensure all activities are operating in compliance with Maritime New Zealand

Ensure all activities are operated safely, professionally and in line with maritime, tourism, employment and health and safety requirements

Have a strong understanding and relationship with local transport authorities with regards to the operation of Orbus Ferries

Lead, develop and support a high-performing team across operations, customer service, sales, marketing, maintenance and administration

Drive commercial performance through strong financial management, budgeting, forecasting and revenue growth initiatives

Maintain excellent customer experience standards and protect the reputation of Watersports Limited and its brands

Build and maintain productive relationships with the Directors, employees, suppliers, tourism partners, regulators, local stakeholders and the wider Queenstown business community

Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, product offerings and operational efficiency

About you

Demonstrated senior executive with GM experience

Strong sales, marketing, finance and commercial capability, including performance reporting

Experience leading operational teams in a seasonal, fast-paced or safety-critical environment

Excellent communication, stakeholder management and decision-making skills

A practical, visible and hands-on leadership style

A strong understanding of health and safety obligations and risk management
