**Summary:**

This position involves the preparation and digitization of physical books using high-speed document scanning equipment in a clean, quiet, and air-conditioned laboratory environment. The role requires safely handling physical materials, operating industrial scanning and cutting equipment, and producing accurate digital files at scale by following established procedures. Daily work is highly repetitive and hands-on, requiring sustained mental focus and attention to detail throughout the workday. The operator will spend the majority of time performing physical tasks such as removing book bindings, preparing pages for scanning, monitoring scan quality, and organizing digital files according to defined conventions. Success in this role depends on the ability to maintain accuracy and consistency while meeting daily throughput targets in a production-style setting.

**Job Responsibilities:**

• Remove book bindings using industrial cutters and prepare loose pages for scanning
• Operate high-speed document scanners to digitize physical books
• Monitor scan quality to identify issues such as double feeds, skew, blurred images, or missing pages
• Organize, label, and store digital files according to defined naming and folder conventions
• Handle physical materials safely, including disposal of scanned pages and book remnants in accordance with procedures
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area while meeting daily throughput and accuracy targets
• Continuously check for common scanning issues and correct problems as they arise
• Re-scan affected pages as needed to maintain accuracy and completeness of digital output
• Sort physical materials for recycling or disposal following defined procedures
• Follow written safety guidelines when handling equipment and materials

**Requirements:**

• Operating physical equipment safely
• Visual quality inspection and error detection
• Basic computer and file handling
• Prior experience in environments such as warehouses, production lines, print shops, mailrooms, or similar settings is a plus but not required
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy during repetitive tasks
• Ability to follow written procedures and safety guidelines consistently
• Comfortable performing physical, hands-on work for extended periods
• Basic computer skills for operating scanning software and managing files
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a production-style environment
• Team-oriented with a strong focus on quality and consistency
• Ability to sustain mental focus throughout the day on predictable tasks
• Visual quality inspection and error detection capabilities

**Additional Details:**

• Location: Redmond, WA
• Duration: 4 months
• Pay Range\*: $27 - $30.50 per hr
• Weekly Schedule: 40 hours
• Job Status: Non-Exempt
