Job Description
*Help keep Banyule moving by maintaining the fleet our community relies on every
day.*
Looking for a role that offers variety, stability and great work-life
balance? Join Banyule City Council and help maintain the diverse fleet that
keeps our community running—from heavy plant and garbage trucks to prime
movers, street sweepers and mowers. With a 9-day fortnight, predictable hours
and exposure to a wide range of vehicles and equipment, this is a great
opportunity to build your skills in a practical, well-supported workshop
environment.
Why you'll love this role and what you'll do
This is a great opportunity to work on a diverse fleet in a
hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll use your technical skills
to service, diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles, plant and equipment, both
in the workshop and out on site, while contributing to a team that keeps
Banyule's essential services moving. With variety, practical problem-solving
and the chance to share your knowledge, it's a role where your expertise will
be valued every day. In this role, you will:
Maintain and repair heavy vehicles,
plant and waste collection equipment to ensure safe, reliable and compliant
fleet operations.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical and
hydraulic faults, completing preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs to
minimise service disruptions.
Conduct vehicle inspections, safety
checks and compliance activities while maintaining accurate service records and
collaborating with drivers, operators and suppliers
You'll get to work on and with modern fleet and equipment, in a supotive team where you can learn and grow in a role that contributes to public safety and the delivery of essential services.
What you'll bring
We're looking for a qualified and capable mechanic who
enjoys working across a diverse fleet and takes pride in delivering reliable,
high-quality maintenance and repairs. You'll bring strong technical skills,
solid post-trade experience and a practical approach to problem-solving, along
with the ability to work safely and effectively in a busy workshop environment.
A Certificate of Proficiency as a Motor Mechanic
(light or heavy stream), with heavy vehicle qualification preferred.
Extensive post-qualification experience
