Steel Fabricator

Role Overview

We are recruiting experienced Steel Fabricators to join our structural steelwork production team. The successful candidates will be responsible for measuring, marking out, assembling and preparing structural steel components in accordance with detailed fabrication drawings.

This position requires strong practical skills, accuracy and the ability to work independently on a range of structural steelwork projects.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret detailed structural steel fabrication and assembly drawings.

Measure, mark out, cut, prepare and assemble structural steel components.

Fabricate beams, columns, brackets, cleats, frames and associated steelwork.

Set out components accurately and carry out tack welding and assembly operations.

Operate workshop equipment, hand tools, grinders and measuring instruments.

Check dimensions, alignment, squareness and tolerances throughout fabrication.

Work closely with welders and production supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.

Identify drawing discrepancies and communicate production issues.

Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality and workplace safety.

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum 2–3 years' experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy engineering.

Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and work independently from detailed instructions.

Competence in marking out, measuring, fitting and assembling steel components.

Good understanding of structural steel sections, plates and connections.

Experience using fabrication machinery, hand tools and measuring equipment.

Tack welding experience and suitable welding competence desirable.

Strong attention to detail and a practical, problem-solving approach.

Pay: £15.00-£18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 42.5 per week
