Welder

Role Overview

We are seeking experienced Welders to join our structural steel fabrication team. The successful candidates will undertake welding operations on structural steel components, ensuring all work meets specified quality standards, approved welding procedures and production deadlines.

The role involves working on structural beams, columns, brackets, connections and fabricated steel assemblies for commercial and industrial construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out MIG/MAG welding of structural steel components and assemblies.

Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols and welding specifications.

Prepare materials and joints prior to welding.

Complete welding operations in accordance with approved welding procedure specifications (WPS).

Inspect completed welds visually and identify defects requiring rectification.

Work with fabricators and production supervisors to meet daily production targets.

Maintain welding equipment and report faults or safety concerns.

Ensure finished components meet required quality and dimensional standards.

Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum 2 years' experience welding structural or heavy steelwork.

Competence in MIG/MAG welding processes.

Ability to read fabrication drawings and understand welding symbols.

Experience working with structural steel sections and fabricated assemblies.

Knowledge of weld quality requirements and safe welding practices.

Relevant welder qualifications to applicable standards, such as EN ISO 9606-1, desirable or required depending on production work.

Ability to work accurately and productively within a workshop team.

Pay: £14.00-£17.00 per hour
