**About the role**

An opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Technician within the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science at Sutton Bonington. As part of the technical team, you will support the delivery of practical teaching, particularly in STEM and dissection-based environments.

You will help ensure the smooth running of teaching labs and preparation areas by setting up and clearing away materials for dissection and cadaver surgery classes, maintaining stock levels, completing cadaver transport and storage documentation, and assisting with collections from abattoirs and clinical associate practices.

The role also includes maintaining cleanliness and organisation across teaching spaces, operating laundry facilities, carrying out routine equipment checks, safely disposing of clinical and biohazard waste, and performing occasional PAT testing on campus and at external practices. You may also provide cover in live animal and clinical teaching areas when required.

**About you**

You will have a minimum of GCSEs (grade C/4 or above) in Maths and English or equivalent or relevant work experience in a similar role. You will bring an understanding of basic principles of biology/anatomy, along with experience working with a wide range of animal species. You should be willing to undertake occasional weekend overtime where teaching schedules require.

You will have basic IT skills, good communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider technical team. A practical approach to problem-solving, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation are essential. The role involves manual handling, so you must be comfortable lifting and moving equipment and consumables. A full driving licence is required, the post involves driving the vet school vehicles to collect teaching material from abattoirs and clinical associate practices, unless a disability precludes this.
