- Only employers that hold a sponsor licence from the Home Office can sponsor a Skilled Worker visa. They appear on the government register of licensed sponsors. Each job here says whether its employer is on that register, and the company page shows the entry.
- Can I change employer if I already have a Skilled Worker visa?
- Yes. The new employer must hold a sponsor licence and give you a new certificate of sponsorship for the new job, and you apply to update your visa. Check GOV.UK for the current rules before you resign.
- What is a certificate of sponsorship?
- A reference number a licensed employer assigns to you for one specific job. You need it to apply for a Skilled Worker visa. It is not a document you buy: a licensed sponsor must not charge you for it.
